Erin Jessica Parker is a writer and contemporary artist. Entirely self-taught, her artwork contains a mixture of photography, photo-collage, and digital painting that blends natural and industrial landscapes with found images from the Renaissance, Victorian, and contemporary eras. Her scenes exploit the the beauty of the natural world, the sadness of urban decay, and the unexpected juxtaposition of identity politics and time through hyper-saturation, high contrast and surrealist composition.
As a writer, she is fascinated by the psycho-emotional range of the human condition, and, particularly, the resulting complexities it creates for people of color. Her work aims to arrest the audience viscerally and place them in direct confrontation with a marginalized person's reality.
She is currently working on her first novel, makes albums for fun and resides in Brooklyn, NY.
